Learn About Venus : The morning Star
Venus
Venus is the second planet from the Sun. It Venus is offen called Earth's twin because of the similarily size, and composition. It is the third-smallest planet in solar system with a diameter of about 7,519 km. The planet takes around 225 Earth days to orbit the Sun. A day on Venus is 243 Earth days long.
Venus appears as a bright star in the Earth’s sky. In fact, it is the brightest ohiect in tin:J sky flat the Sun and the Moon. It is known as ’mornng star’ and evening star as It can be seen shining brightly before sunrise and after sunset. Venus has no known moons.
Atmosphere and temperature
Venus has a dense atmosphere. It is 90 times heavier than the Earth’s atmosphere. The thick atmosphere traps most of the Sun’s heat. The surface tempereture of the planet remains around 470 °F making it the hottest planet in our solar system. The atmosphere is mostly composed of carbon dioxide. The planet is covered with several layers of clouds.
These clouds are composed of sulphuric acid. The high density and surface temperature makes it impossible for any meteor spacecraft to pass through the atmosphere. Strong Winds of more than abou 3,49.227 km/h blow in the upper atmosphere.
Density and mass
The mass of Venus is about four-fifth of Earth’s mass. An object that weighs 45 kg on Earth will weigh about 40 kg on Venus. Venus is also slightly less dense than Earth.
Surface features
Venus has a hot and dry surface. Most of the planet is covered with flat and smooth plains. The planet also has level grounds, mountains, canyons, and valleys. Atalanta Planitia, Guinevere Planitia, Lavinia Planitia are some of the broad depressions found on the planet. Around 35 per cent of the surface area of the planet comprises mountainous regions. The highest feature on the planet is Maxwell. It is around 1.6 km high and about 870.65 km long. Ishtar Terra in the northern hemisphere and Aphrodite Terra along the equator are two major highlands. Ishtar Terra is about the size of Australia and Aphrodite Terra is about the size of South America. The interior of Ishtar consists mainly of a high plateau, Lakshmi Plenum, which is surrounded by the highest mountains on Venus.
